Why Join Our Finance & Procurement Team

Take a look at the key reasons why you should decide to work in finance & procurement for Cumberland Council.

Having started my career in the private sector in accountancy practice a move to the public sector was initially scary. However, the benefits, from the Flexible working to the excellent Local Government Pension Scheme are something unachievable for a lot of private sector organisations. I converted my ACA ICAEW Qualification I started in the private sector into Exemptions to contribute towards my CIPFA Qualification and am now a Qualified Chartered Public Finance Accountant. While studying for my Qualification I received study time and support from the organisation which was invaluable for me to get to my goal of achieving my qualification.

As a result of LGR and becoming Cumberland Council there have been new opportunities and, although we have all had to be resilient and willing to adapt to a new developing organisation, and there are still challenges ahead, with strong and committed teams in the core of the Council this will be the key to the success of the organisation.
