Why Join Our Commissioning & Procurement Team

Take a look at the key reasons why you should decide to work in commissioning & procurement for Cumberland Council.

Our service is about ensuring the council gets the best value for the money it spends by properly articulating its need (the 'ask') in an interesting, clear and timely manner to the market. It's an interesting and wide-ranging job, touching many parts of the organisation.

The Commissioning & Procurement Team are extremely collegiate, working across all parts of the Council, supporting/enabling colleagues to identify and develop 'make or buy' decisions regarding all our goods, works and services and articulate/transform such into service delivery through Specifications (the 'asks').

These are then pulled together through a governance process, (to incorporate project timetables and a suite of various legal and Award documents), tendered out, and awarded to a successful bidder, to be finally implemented and contract managed to ensure we received value for money.
